What is Pilates?

Pilates (originally named Contrology) was created by Joseph H. Pilates. Joseph was born in Germany in 1880 and was a sickly child suffering from asthma, rheumatic fever, and rickets.

During his lifetime he developed a form of exercise that was designed to use the art and science of muscle control to help achieve a body that looks good, feels good, and sustains you for a lifetime.

Once the basic principals of pilates are incorporated into your subconscious, the efficiency of the movement can prove to be a challenging workout. Students who have taken pilates notice a difference in the way they stand and walk. The exercises produce a strong body with long, lean muscles.

Mat classes are designed for beginners and experienced students.
