What is Yoga?

The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit language and means “to unite” or to harmonize.”The word Hatha when broken down means ha = sun and tha = moon.Yoga seeks to bring strength, flexibility, and balance to the body through breath and movement.

You don't have to be in perfect physical condition to practice yoga. Your yoga is your personal journey that takes place on your mat. The peace you have discovered with yoga, transforms the way you relate to yourself and others. People will sense a difference in you.  What they are sensing, is your inner peace. 

What to expect during a yoga session:

At the start of our yoga practice, we will begin with breathing – linking the mind and the body – setting an intention for our practice – then taking the body through a series of poses – flowing in and out of the poses with the breath – treating our yoga as a moving meditation.At the end of practice we will take ourselves into savasana ( corpse pose) to reflect on the intention we have made for our practice.

Yoga is for beginners and experienced yoga students.Please bring a mat, towel or blanket. (See the Yoga Pilates 4 Me Class Schedule)
